Poorcastle refers to itself a “music festival for the common person,” and tickets are $5, or $10 total for a three-day pass. This year’s fest takes place at Apocalypse Brew Works from July 7-9, starting at 2 p.m. each day.
The local event offers traditional festival attractions — including food trucks and craft beer vendors — in addition to the live performances from more than 35 bands. In a press release, festival co-founder Shaina Wagner said the festival offers something for everyone.
“Each year, we receive more and more interest from bands and the public,” Wagner said. “The festival has taken on a life of its own.”
A unique aspect of Poorcastle is that all proceeds from admission goes to local nonprofits, including the local Crescent Hill Radio station and youth performance group Louisville Leopard Percussionists. Last year, the festival raised more than $4,000.
Tickets are available for $5 at the door, and festival T-shirts also will be on sale for $5. Glass containers and alcohol are prohibited, but Apocalypse will be serving up its tasty beer.
