Have you ever wanted to be an elf on the shelf in other people’s homes to steal decorating tips, cookie recipes or just to spy? This weekend, you’ll have the chance to sneak a peek into several homes in Old Louisville — and it’s completely legal and encouraged, actually.

The 41st annual Old Louisville Holiday Home Tour takes place Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3, and offers anyone interested a tour of several Victorian mansions, town homes and historic buildings that have been decorated for the holidays.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council and usually attracts thousands of people each year — so just know you are not alone in your desire to snoop.

“We want to show tour-goers that you can raise a family in this neighborhood and these beautiful Victorian homes,” said Charlotte Gross, Old Louisville Holiday Home Tour co-chair and resident of the neighborhood.

While the tour runs from noon-6 p.m. both days, new this year is a VIP tour and bourbon tasting on Friday, Dec. 1, sponsored by the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Those interested in this will sip on bourbon samples, Southern Egg Nog, wine and appetizers at the Louisville Bourbon Inn (1332 S. Fourth St.), and then visit a few houses on on the tour.
