Derby Dinner Playhouse will begin its forty-fifth year with laughter in the fast-paced, outrageous comedy Love, Sex and the I.R.S. This side-splitting comedy is full of sight gags, twists of fate, and mistaken identities!
It’s 1979 in New York, and Jon and Leslie are two out-of-work bachelors sharing an apartment and struggling to make ends meet. So Jon gets the idea to file his taxes as married and claims his roommate, Leslie, as his spouse. The plan is working fine until “the couple” is notified that they are being investigated by the I.R.S. Frantic to hide their secret, Leslie, with the help of his fiancée, masquerades as Jon’s wife and all while avoiding the landlord who doesn’t want a woman living in the apartment. And if that’s not enough chaos for you, Kate, Jon’s girlfriend, and Leslie are having an affair and Jon’s mother drops in for an unexpected visit! Love, Sex and the IRS is loaded with laughs from start to finish!
Directed by Jim Hesselman and written by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, cast members include Brittany Cox, Matt Street, J.R. Stuart, Dick Baker, Cary Wiger, Kiersten Vorheis, Megan Johnson and David Myers.
