It wouldn’t be October in Louisville without Strassenfest at Fourth Street Live!
It’s a two-day family-friendly event featuring all things German, reflecting the area’s rich history and the influence of German immigrants, the first of which arrived in 1787.
German food and activities, and of course, beer, are the featured attractions Oct. 5 and 6.
First up, Mayor Greg Fischer taps Gordon Bierch’s Festbier at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, with live music from favorites Rheingold Band and Prost! Those two popular bands come back on Saturday, and are joined by the March Madness Marching Band, Cirque Louis and the Zinzinnati Bierband.
Germany’s #1 Food Truck will be serving up donor kebabs, bratwurst and other German culinary favorites. Several local breweries will be represented, including Holsapple, Mile Wide, Goodwood, West Sixth, Falls City and the Street’s own resident brewery, Gordon Biersch.
True Strassenfest fans will opt for $25 VIP tickets, which include a souvenir beer mug, three drink tickets, bottled water and a pretzel necklace. Those tickets are available exclusively at ticketfly.com.
