Has the whole world gone crazy?

Loretto, Ky.-based Maker’s Mark brought to the fore last week that bourbon consumption globally is rising so quickly that some brands are running out.

Seriously.

If you’re new to Louisville, chances are you’re new to Louisville’s bourbon culture. If so, New2Lou is there to help, with an encore next week of their Bourbon 101 class … before it all runs out.

New2Lou: Bourbon 101 Encore is scheduled for Thur., Feb. 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the speakeasy over The Silver Dollar upscale honky tonk on Frankfort Avenue.

From the New2Lou news release:

Missed out on Bourbon 101 last month? No worries, we got your back. We want you, the newbie, to be well educated and armed with bourbon knowledge, so we bring you a encore of Bourbon 101! Even if you’re not a newbie and you know a thing or two about bourbon, you’ll learn plenty more, trust us. The class will leave with you a greater appreciation of bourbon and some great new friends as well, cause you know, that’s what we do, connect cool folks like you. Good times guaranteed and here’s some photos to prove it…Bourbon 101 pics.  Following the event, we’ll head downstairs to our own reserved section at the whiskey bar to test out our mad, new bourbon skills. It will be just like our awesome 2nd Wed Socials, but maybe a little better, because you’ll be all warm and fuzzy from the bourbon and you’ll have a group of new found friends to share your experience with. We’ll have drink specials, of course bourbon will be at the top of the list, light bites and an awesome photographer to capture all the fun with your new bff.

The Hawthorne Beverage Group will be there to provide their expertise on the history of bourbon and the distillery process, and insider tips, according to the New2Lou website.

There will be a lot of classwork, according to the class synopsis, including sipping and savoring. (The Silver Dollar carries about 70 bourbon brands, so despite what happened to Maker’s Mark, there should be plenty of hooch.)

Tickets are $30 per person.

Space is limited to the first 60 people who purchase tickets, which you can get here.

Once you purchase a ticket, New2Lou will send you an email containing additional information including details about awesome bourbon swag ’cause they’re cool like that.

The Silver Dollar is at 1761 Frankfort Ave. in Clifton.
