The few days after Thanksgiving are a little like Mardi Gras season. Not because they’re full of good boozy fun, costumes, and parades — at least not at my house, if that’s the way Thanksgiving is at your house, I’d like an invitation. But like Lundi Gras, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday…  every damned day has a name… or two.

  • Black Friday
  • Buy Nothing Day
  • Shop Local Saturday
  • Cyber Monday
And now, thanks to Louisville Independent Business Alliance and SoIn/Kentucky Cash Mobs, we have Mobday – a day to encourage people to get offline on Cyber Monday and spend money locally.
What’s a Cash Mob, you ask? The event’s Facebook page explains it like this:
It’s a high-spirited event aimed at showing support for small, independent businesses by gathering a large group of people to “descend” on a business to spend a little cash in a short time span and meet people in our community at the same time.

Bring $20 and meet us in the parking lot of The Blind Pig (1076 E. Washington St.) at 5:30pm on Mon. Nov. 26. Then we will proceed to our SECRET MOB LOCATION! No need to stay the whole time, but you are of course welcome to return to The Blind Pig after your shopping experience for more social fun.

A portion of the proceeds from the shopping event will be donated to Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies!

Don’t forget, you can submit your receipt to the Shift Your Shopping contest (with 4 others) and be entered to win a $1000 shopping spree.
