Our mission is to inform readers with impactful, public-service journalism so that they can help shape outcomes. Our goal is to raise the level of civic engagement in our communities and to be an indispensable source of information about local business, government, education, health, and culture.
Here’s what sets us apart from competitors in a diminished Louisville media landscape:
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Insider Louisville does not have a paywall – indeed, just the opposite – we provide daily newsletters, social media posts, educational events, and our award-winning website at no cost to readers. What’s more, we promise not to annoy Insiders with click-bait headlines or pop-up advertisements like some of our competitors do.
We focus on analytical local news coverage and enterprise reporting. Insider Louisville focuses on mission-driven cornerstone topics like business, education, government, health, culture and the local economy. We put local news front and center in a digital-first format and do the kind of old-school, shoe-leather reporting that is fast disappearing in a world driven by news gleaned from social media. Our reporters work the phones and hit the streets to uncover the issues that are begging for transparency. We ask the hard questions and hold officials accountable.
We are small but mighty. Insider Louisville has a team of seven dedicated reporters and editors plus a robust group of quality contributors. We are proud to say that we have won a variety of local journalism awards and that our work has been cited by national media.
We rely on support from you, our readers. In addition to local foundations and corporate sponsors, we rely on individual donors to support our mission. We take pride in our work and are grateful to have such a dialed-in group of readers. We love this town and want to see it thrive the way they do. We plan to broaden our coverage, add staff and extend our platform.
It takes a community pitching in to energize and support Insider Louisville’s nonprofit digital platform. If you, our valued reader, love Insider Louisville (we know you do) and value our expertise and enterprise reporting, consider donating.
