Well, that was one helluva way to open a season. The University of Louisville Cardinals pounded the Charlotte 49ers 70-14 at Thursday night’s season opener at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Quarterback Lamar Jackson ruled the field and got the ball rolling, so to speak, by running in a 36-yard touchdown himself at nearly three minutes into the game.

Thousands came out to support the team, and as usual, that included the fine art of tailgating. Insider captured some shots of eager and hopeful Louisvillians imbibing, grilling, gaming and high-fiving in parking lots surrounding the stadium.

Louisville’s next home game is Saturday, Sept. 17, at noon against Florida State. Join us, won’t you?
